Style File: Laura Dern Embraces the Dark and Light Sides of The Force

Posted on December 15, 2017

Our queen is on a mega-poledance and we cannot be more thankful for that. While we can’t say she normally serves up Tilda/Lupita/Cate levels of high fashion, she does tend to steer clear of the trap of being dull or predictable most of the time. And besides, the reason she’s our queen is because we adore her and practically every bit of work she does. Bear in mind that Queen Laura had Big Little Lies, Twin Peaks: The Return AND a Star Wars movie all come out in the same year. Miss Lady has been damn busy and we’re all the richer for it.

But yes. Let’s judge her clothing. It’s what we’re here for.

She kind of lost us with the shoe choice. It’s not a terrible one; it’s just a terribly conventional one. The equivalent of a celebrity guy wearing a blue business suit on a promo tour. The suit is surprisingly pretty on her. Nothing against her, but a pale pink pantsuit can go dowdy or mumsy fairly quickly – especially if you have the urge to tie a bow around your neck at the same time. But the cut is fantastic and while we wouldn’t rate the color among the top choices for her, it looks soft and pretty.

And the good news is, she recovered from a questionable footwear choice rather spectacularly:

BAM.

This has been quite the thigh-high Christmas among the lady-celeb set. We can’t really say we’re all that in love with the outfit, but the boots are slaying.
