Kittens, this was the week for a little bit of red carpet tea-leaf-reading, as we took the ongoing sexual abuse scandal allegations rocking Hollywood (along with just about every other industry at the moment) as a jumping-off point to discuss the direction of the red carpet, both in the current awards season as well as beyond it, indefinitely. You’ll have to listen in for our thoughts (which were not in total agreement), but basically, the red carpet pantsuit craze is only the tip of the iceberg. There’s a good chance that, going forward, some women in entertainment are going to start drastically rethinking their approach to public style. There’s a reason the number of sheer skirts and plunging necklines dropped dramatically in the last few months – and colder weather ain’t it.
But first, Lorenzo needs to gush dramatically about his latest obsession, the German Netflix-acquired horror/sci fi weirdathon known as Dark.
He LOVES it. Tom hasn’t seen it yet, but Lo is a hundred percent supportive of its darkness and weirdness.
And finally … MOVIE REVIEWS (of the non-spoiler kind)! First up:
Molly’s Game, which we both really liked but don’t think has much chance of getting any major awards.
Second, the film we both think might be our favorite of the year, the utterly sublime and touching Lady Bird.
It’s not a sad film at all, but Tom noted he was on the verge of tears through the whole thing. He never cried, but he can’t imagine any woman he recommends it to isn’t going to bawl her eyes out.
