Alison Brie Keeps It Simple at “The Post” DC Premiere

Posted on December 15, 2017

Miss Alison, welcome to the world of prestige drama red carpetry. Please note that the stakes are high and fashion will be judged accordingly.

But you did pretty good, lady:

Not perfect, mind you. This is, unfortunately, not the kind of dress that’s going to photograph all that well. It’s a mass of white with a difficult-to-see textural effect that can cause it to come off a little lumpy in shots. Put there’s some lovely work to be found there, if you lean in to take a look. We love the seaming on the skirt.

Unfortunately, it’s clearly a bit snug in the bodice, which is the kind of thing that becomes hard to ignore when you’re wearing all white. And we tend to think a contrasting belt would do a lot to make it more photogenic. But it’s dramatic and it has some elements that work well for her, including the (we can’t believe we’re about to type this without being bitches about it) turtleneck halter. She probably could have used a little jewelry, but maybe she was going for more of a starkly dramatic look.

Thoughts on the hair and makeup? Again, our impulse is to ask for a bit more, but we don’t think she’s that kind of girl.
