Saoirse Ronan is Pretty in Pink at the InStyle Celebration of The Golden Globes 75th Anniversary

Posted on November 16, 2017

Yes, Hollywood is now throwing parties to celebrate the awards ceremonies to come later. It’s an ourobouros of back-patting, darlings.

And yes, that headline is lame and unimaginative and we’re terribly sorry we foisted it on you. We have a good excuse, though:

Because that dress is pretty and it is also pink. So there. It’s not flawless to our eyes, because those bows all look a little sad, but that’s what happens when you insist on going out looking like a present. Eventually, your bows wilt. There’s a lesson in there for all of us.

That dress also deserved something much more fabulous than those frikkin Birkenstock-looking things on her feet. They’re hideous and distracting, even if they do mimic the straps on the dress. A sandal with a more delicate strap and perhaps a piece or two of jewelry that you can see from more than two feet away would’ve sealed the deal on this look. We’re heading into an awards season where Hollywood is feeling pretty chastened at the moment. We suspect we’re going to see a lot of these sorts of plainly pretty but largely unadorned and low-key looks on the red carpet.
