Nicki Minaj Launched Her Trapeze Act at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

Posted on November 08, 2017

Seriously, you guys. In decades to come, fashion historians are going to look back at this period and marvel at all the female pop stars dressed like they’re in circus acts.

This is fairly cray in that Nicki/Wang sort of way we’d expect from those two names. It’s definitely high impact, making it right for her and pretty much right for the occasion, which calls for some head-turning looks from the more famous attendees. But it’s not without its issues. The design of the bodice is okay, but the bust is long and wide on her. A better fit around the boobs would have made a significant difference – although there’s no support issue here, evidently. And the trim around it is somewhat uneven at parts.

We like the peplum/train thing for the most part, but the leather diapers are a big-time no. It’s like everything here started out sexy in concept and wound up big and blousy on her in execution. It’s high-impact, but it loses that impact almost immediately, once you start taking it in.

KILLA shoes, though. She got that part right. Not really feeling the bag.
