Style File: Sonequa Martin-Green at Comic-Con and Paley Center

Posted on October 09, 2017

There’s a lot of red carpetry on the roster today, so consider this post a placeholder for the upcoming “Everyone Needs to Calm Down about Star Trek:Discovery” review. The show, while flawed, is way more fun and more interesting than we expected and any complaints about the roughness of it can only be met with eyerolls on our part, simply because every Trek show started off rough.

Anyway, Miss Sonequa is a revelation, even if her character isn’t as fleshed-out as the story needs her to be right now. More thoughts to come.

As for her nerd-party style:

Sonequa Martin-Green attends the “Star Trek: Discovery” panel during 2017 New York Comic Con – Day 3 in New York City.

It’s pretty darn cute. How nice, for once, to see a sheer dress with … another dress underneath it. That sounded prissier than we mean it to. It’s just that this is pretty and soft and manages to avoid so many sheer dress cliches. The shoes strike us as a bit too dressy for the venue, though.

Sonequa Martin-Green attends the “Star Trek: Discovery” photocall at the Paley Center for Media in New York City in Creatures of Comfort.

There’s your Sci-Fi Queen look. Every gal working in this genre for film or television has to take at least one metallic dress for a spin on the promo tour. It is written. It’s a cute look, but the hem is weird and the shoes are really awful.
