We’re actually a little surprised by this:
First, because it’s a pretty great-looking, non-awkward Dior and such sightings are increasingly rare on the red carpet; second, because we’d have thought she’d save a look like this for a more self-promotional kind of appearance. She looks pretty great here. We suppose there’s probably a bit too much volume and a bit of a glam deficit for your average movie-star red carpet, in which case it makes a perfect dress for an occasion like this one. It’s not “arty” in the sense we tend to use that term in describing clothes (mostly just as a synonym for “Bohemian”), but it’s funky, bold and graphic, which tends to lend itself well to to big oil-painting backdrops.
But we’re most surprised by our reaction to the shoes. Normally, we hate clunky heels and platforms with below-the-knee hems, but they look fantastic paired with this dress. Maybe the strip of red velvet helps lighten the visual load, so to speak.
