Our first impulse is to say that this is a bit much for a morning chat show:
But then it occurs to us that we’ve been saying that exact thing with greater frequency of late, so maybe we just need to accept that morning chat show ensembles are now expected to be as showy as late-night talk show getups.
We want to like this – mostly because it’s sleek and striking – but the mismatched reds are making our eyelids twitch in prissy fury. And there’s something a little odd about the combo of broad shoulders/over-long sleeves/near-ankle-length hem combined with a crop top and a pair of sandals. The proportions and the weight are all off kilter. If that skirt hit at the knee, this would all work fine, although it would smack of the ’80s.
