Ray Fisher, Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill and Jason Momoa attend the premiere of “Justice League” in Beijing.
Apparently, they prepared a little number…?
We do so love when these junkets start off in Beijing, because they often wind up making the casts do things no American or European premiere would ever think of. The resulting pics are usually terrible for red carpet commentary, but fun for being unpredictable.
Also: Affleck’s kicks look stupid.
Really, really stupid. We like kicks with a suit, but it can’t be some staid banker’s suit and a pair of big white bobos. He looks like he recently had foot surgery.
The red carpet shots are horrible for style assessments – again, that’s just how the photographers in Beijing roll – so scroll down to get the gist of things and we’ll meet you at the end to give our thoughts.
We dub this entire outing … underwhelming. Gal’s not the gal to put in an LBD. She comes alive in bold colors and metallics (which is, perhaps, not all that surprising, given the whole Wonder Woman thing). This is dreary and photographs terribly. And we will never learn to love those jockstrap straps Dior loves so much right now.
Affleck, as noted, looks like a lawyer post-surgery. So not fabulous. Momoa can’t not look hot, but that preacher’s getup is doing nothing for him. There are so many fun ways to interpret menswear for a boho, hippy, surfer dude aesthetic. It’s like they just gave up before even trying. Cavill looks delicious. Positively edible. Ezra gets real points for trying, but ultimately, his whole ensemble just looks cheap and goofy. We like the idea, but the fabrics are all cheap and chintzy. We actually like Ray’s look for being modern and a little different, but the colors all make him fade into the background. In fact, this entire lineup looks drearily dark and colorless. Given that’s one of the main criticisms of DC’s superhero films, we’re surprised this first outing is coming off so haphazard and ill-planned. Tsk to all involved. These guys should be coordinated and colorful.
