We’re so used to seeing Miss Claire working a red carpet with Matt Smith at her side that it was literally hours before we noticed Matt was nowhere to be found in these pictures. Hello, Andrew. So sorry to have skipped right past you.
Well, they’re both kind of adorable little messes here, but we’re impressed by the subtle yet unmistakeable coordinating. They match without looking like you match. Even better (we’re choosing to look at the bright side), this is no instance of a ladystar showing up in full drag and heels while her male co-star gets to coast by on some ratty pants and a grin. Neither of them look good, which means we’re duty-bound to denounce them, but we’re amused by how well-matched they are in their sloppy awfulness.
And to their credit, they know when to turn it on:
We’ve always thought Andrew had great hair, but we’ve also always thought he wears it like a guy who was told he had great hair one too many times. Not that we mind a full hairstyle on a guy, but this is dorky and aging. Televangelist hair. Also: Beard or get off the pot, son. You can’t work stubble.
As for her dress, if she separated the sleeves from the bodice and the bodice from the skirt, and then fed and watered all the pieces and made sure they got plenty of sunlight, in three weeks or so, she’d have three pretty dresses. Right now, it’s just too much of a mish-mash.
