2017 Variety’s Power of Women Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on October 17, 2017

Ladies! Ladies! You’re just gonna have to simmer down, celeb-gals. We’re working our way through Elle magazine’s “Women in Hollywood” party when we realized we still haven’t finished judging all the gals at Variety’s “Power of Women” thing! So many powerful Hollywood women! So many dresses and accessories to render judgment upon! Darlings, we’re just gonna have to start lining them up and doing it assembly-line style if we want to have any time to ourselves today.

Chrissy Metz in Jovani

Personal best. She may never stop loving floaty sleeves and tricky flats, neither of which are among our faves for her, but even so. The color is bold, the dress has a nice shape to it and the shoes are elegant. All she needs is a better sash and bow.

Constance Zimmer in Lavish Alice

The neckline’s a bit much but it probably provides the needed visual interest. The bag and shoes are both in questionable colors.

Jaime King in Fendi

It’s completely over the top and we would expect nothing less from her. It seems silly to suggest edits, but the choker and the boots need to go.

Michelle Pfeiffer

It’s a sheer turtleneck dress with thumbholes worn over another dress and a pair of boots. That sounds completely insane,  but this is actually working for us a little. She just needs some sparkle or jewelry somewhere. Maybe a cocktail ring.

Nikki Reed in Amur

Meh. Generic.

Octavia Spencer in Laura Basci

REALLY cute and chic.

Viola Davis in Giorgio Armani

Love the suit, love the color, love the metallic pumps, but the matchy blouse was not needed, we’re afraid.
