You’ve got to figure if you’re hitting the red carpet for a Fashion Week kickoff party, you better sport yourself a LEWK.
On that front, Miss Lady has succeeded admirably. If nothing else, it turns heads and takes an arresting picture. Whatever the particular pros and cons of this ensemble, she nailed the brief and came correct for the venue.
Is it chic? Stylish? Pretty, even? Against some of our better judgment, we’re going to give a tentative “yes” to all three. We like the idea of a deconstructed dress over a pair of leather boot-pants. And we understand the idea that maybe the juxtaposition works best when said dress is very standard and basic in style, as this ’90s wedding attendee gown frock tends to look (from the waist up). But if we have any issue with this, it’s with that very basicness of design in the floral parts. Not to mention the floral itself, which is pretty mumsy. Like we said, that may have been the point; to pick something totally MOB and pair it with something totally Rocker Chick. It’s a solid concept and we really like how it came off, but it’s a bit of a struggle to get past the print and bodice.
