We haven’t seen much of Great News, the Tina Fey-produced sitcom on NBC, but what little we did see surprised us, because Miss Nicole has a featured role in the cast and she’s actually very funny. Was that mean that we sounded so surprised? Well, we were. We think she can be fabulous and she gives good interview when she wants to, but we had no idea she had acting chops, let alone comedy ones.
Having said that, it’s such a standard sort of sitcom, loaded to the rafters with all the tropes, that we found we really couldn’t get into it. So let’s judge her clothes instead!
Nicole Richie makes an appearance on “The Today Show” in NYC.
Please don’t hate us – because we know how nuts this might sound – but we actually love this. The pairing of the garments is so bizarrely counter intuitive that the result is kind of inescapable. We can’t stop looking at it. It manages to be glamorous, chic, and casually comfortable at the same time. And it manages that while being fairly original and unique. We’ll take it. It’s different and it has a very modern soignee vibe to it that’s just perfect for her.
And this isn’t even the outfit she wore on the show. No, that one was even more attention-seeking:
Once again, we feel the need to predict that Dynasty-influenced styles are about to hit in a big way again, so all you potential Fallons, Alexises and Krystles better get shopping. We cannot – at all – with that skirt. It’s way too shiny, way too yellow, and way too tricky. And pairing a satin skirt with a sweater of the same color is a really odd way to go.
On the other hand, the look as a whole is so eye-catching and head-turning that we feel just a little bit of affection toward it. It’s so over-the-top that it almost looks like a costume.
