Sarah Hyland Worked Our Nerves at the Variety “Women in Film” Celebration

Posted on September 22, 2017

Faced with an enormous backlog of pre-Emmys parties red carpet looks, we opted for the lazy response. Throw them all in the leftovers folder and sort them out at the end of the day.

But one little frock and its wearer just kept rising to the surface…

This look, for whatever reasons, kind of got itself stuck in our style craw this week. We couldn’t shake it. At least three times, we set it up for its own post and then never got back to it. And to be honest, she’d only showing up here now because we kinda forgot we still had the pics sitting around.

Gosh, this is not the most effusive post in the world, is it? Our point is, this look quietly worked its way under our skin. Not because it’s shockingly fashion-forward or drop-dead chic; just because, well… girlfriend looks pretty damn glam. We love this color and style for her. She tends to make style choices we’d consider a little on the tacky side, but there’s something a little chic about a look as basic as this, with the glitter ramped up to give it some interest.

We love the makeup, but it almost certainly belongs with a less sparkkly look, no? Nothing wrong with getting your smokey eye on in a party dress, but maybe you shouldn’t match the colors exactly.
