And now for a change of pace: Miss Lucy Liu, floating by on a cloud, to remind us what whimsical elegance looks like.
It’s not our thing; not really. It’s more than a little draggy, and the dusky lavender is a super-tough color to pull off. Plus we have an innate dislike of tiered clothing in any form. What we’re saying here is, we need a lot of convincing on this one.
And you know what? We’re … not convinced. BUT, we are surprised at how close we came to it. See, we’re thinking that, with some minor adjustment, this might have worked for us. As noted, the color needs to change; to something a bit deeper. The satin sash around the waist is awful and should be replaced with a silver belt. The illusion yoke needs to go and the some straps need to be added. We still wouldn’t love the tiers and heavy bands of Muppet feathers, but we understand the need sometimes for some grandiosity and lightness. She does “serious” a lot in her style. Can’t fault her for wanting to shake things up a bit.
