On an Emmys red carpet filled with some surprisingly chic and off-beat takes on traditionally male formalwear, Miss Evan joins the fray:
And promptly vaults to the … well. Not quite the top of the standings, but very near to it.
LOVE this, if you can’t tell. As we said with Lena Waithe’s take on a tux, women aren’t required (in our view) to girl up menswear when they choose to wear it, but we do appreciate it when there’s some twist or spin on it. In this case, we’re crazy about the unusual proportions here, from the cropped jacket to the massive tails to the huge flare of the pants. If Miss Lady wanted to come out in strict Astaire cosplay, we’d have still applauded it, but we love this so much more for being a thoughtful take on formal menswear rather than just, y’know… formal menswear.
But more importantly, here are the nominees for Best Traditionally Male Formal Wear at the 69th Annual Emmy Awards:
Evan Rachel Wood
We won’t name a winner necessarily (LENA), but if we had to put them in order, it would be Lena, Evan, Donald, Caleb, Riz.
Moschino by Jeremy Scott Ensemble Featuring White Wide Leg Trousers, a Bustier Top with Coat Tails, and a Cropped Bolero Jacket
Neil Lane Jewelry
Jimmy Choo Crystal-Emebellshed Clutch
Salvatore Ferragamo Shoes
