Diego Luna, Kiersey Clemons, Ellen Page, Nina Dobrev and James Norton at the “Flatliners” Premiere

Look at these pretty people, all lined up for our judgment.

And they dressed according to a theme! Attaboys and girls. Not that we ever truly jump for joy when we see a red carpet with no color on it, but you can’t deny an array of guys and gals in simply chic B&W looks has a certain appeal. Granted, it tends to look a bit like a wedding party, but we can at least appreciate that there was thought put into how to present this cast for the poledance.

Having said that, you could’ve tried a little harder, mister. Everyone got pretty dressed up – including you – so a tie would’ve been a little more appropriate. Formal suiting with an open shirt and no tie always looks like hour 5 of a wedding reception or happy hour to us. You can go without a tie with more casual suiting, but a plain black or navy suit with a white shirt is a tie-required ensemble, as far as we’re concerned.

Kiersey Clemons in Alberta Ferretti

Thinking we love this, even though we tend to be ambivalent about red carpet crop tops and the ubiquity of lace/crochet among the celebrity set. But this doesn’t smack of cliche and has an interesting shape to it, both of which work to her advantage. Her looks call for a little edge or unconventionality in her style choices.

Ellen Page

Whatever. She wears the same outfit, over and over again. It’s boring and unimaginative. There are so many interesting and expressive ways to dress butch or androgynous.

Nina Dobrev in Prabal Gurung

Pretty enough, we suppose, but the belt and the shoes don’t feel like they go with the dress at all. And girl, that’s not your hair style.

James Norton

Acceptable. As noted, they’re going for a semi-formal tone here, so we get why he didn’t wear a colorful tie. The silver keeps it dressy without making him look like he’s literally wearing a tux or dressed like a Secret Service agent. Of course we’d have rather seen him in something with a little more personality or oomph to it (since his coloring really needs help getting set off in pictures), but that’s the downside to forcing a group of people into a style theme. Someone’s always going to get the short end of the style stick. Of course he looks great. It’s just that a bold blue plaid skinny suit would look amazing on him right now.

We can’t believe they remade this. Probably because we never saw the OG, thinking it looked kind of dumb.
