Style File: Kate Beckinsale Keeps Things Relentlessly Neutral in New York

Posted on August 10, 2017

The celebrity style pickins are slim this week, and we’re in the midst of podcasting, some PR stuff, and another 2000 word ramble about Twin Peaks, so please allow Miss Beckinsale to dazzle you with her boring ensembles and basic styling.

We’re just saying. These pics have been sitting in a folder for over a day because it’s all just so very not fabulous.

A salute to neutrals. An ode to minimalism. A pile of cheap-looking fabrics.

In truth, there’s nothing terribly wrong with the basic style here, but the colorlessness, perfunctory styling, and shiny, puckery textile all make it fairly bleh.

That is an important fashion term.

Look, we’re not trying to be bitches. She’s a beautiful woman all dressed up – and she looks boring.

We were willing to accept a lot until we got to the pink pumps.

Don’t get us wrong, we actually kind of love them. But they’re the only part of this getup that has any oomph or personality. And the best part is, they don’t really go with the rest of the look. The dress is pretty in a basic romantic sort of way, but once again it’s lacking much in color, which makes the super-pointy pink stilettos stand out oddly. And such sexy, declarative footwear doesn’t really look right with a ponytail that looks like it was set in the limo with a rubberband.

It just all seems so half-assed to us. Keep the pink pumps and we’ll build up something around them, but the rest of it can go.
