This isn’t the most fascinating ensemble in the world, so you would think we’d have no problem rendering judgment on it, but we’re gonna turn the final call over to you because once again, we’re not sure our opinions can be trusted.
It’s not that we dislike Miss Elizabeth or that we find her style problematic. It’s just that she’s got a fairly specific look that comes across to our eyes as a little dated and a little aging. This all fine for an event that isn’t about her or her work. In fact, we’d go so far as to say there’s a certain breezy elegance to it. But maybe we’re being a little narrow in thinking a young woman in her twenties doesn’t need to land so hard on “elegance.” Nothing against the idea, but she’s got opportunities (and good reasons) to have a little more fun with her red carpetry. We guess it comes down to this: She frequently looks put together in a somewhat mature and standard-elegance kind of way, but we find such looks lack much oomph on her. This exact ensemble on… we don’t know … Meryl Streep, let’s say; would look fantastic. On someone as young as her, we can’t be bothered with more than a “We guess so…”
So that’s why you get to make the call on this one. Your opinions will be pure and perfect, unlike our muddled reasoning and clear prejudices.
