Style File: Céline Dion Dion is Having Herself a Time at Paris Fashion Week

To the surprise of, well… just about everyone, the world’s most sincere and melodramatic pop singer has recently become a world-class fashionista, and she’s clearly enjoying herself as she tears up Paris on her way to the couture shows. Let’s assess, yes?

What isn’t remotely surprising is that the world’s most sincere and melodramatic pop singer has a lot to learn on the posing front. We get the sense she’s got “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” on a constant loop in her head, which would explain the rather intense poses.

Anyway, the look is fabulous. That’s a tough color, though.

Okay, the crotch scarf is just amazingly annoying and totally unnecessary, but y’know? We think we’re gonna have to give Miss Celine this one. It’s a pretty goofy look, when you get right down to it, but that tends to make it all the more appropriate for her. Goofy Chic. It can be a thing, we’re thinking. And she could be its queen.

Anyway, the over-the-top romanticism paired with the saucy-sexy is a surprisingly strong look for her. Not to be essentialist about it or anything, but there’s only a handful of celebrity women in her age range who could pull this off and they tend to be world-class level fashionistas like Cate and Tilda. Goofy it may be, but it’s pretty great that she’s making it work.
