Aw, we’re just teasing. But after a full day of assessing dressed-up ladystars standing next to their male co-workers, who almost all look ready to work on their cars for the day, we figure a little bit of pointed snark is the least we could offer in response.
But – and we’re sorry to keep reiterating this point – the guys really aren’t wrong for showing up super-cazh for an event like this. We always appreciate when a boystar manages some sort of cute or stylish take on casual nerd-wear for Comic-Con, but if they want to show up looking pretty much indistinguishable from the average non-cosplaying attendee, we really can’t fault them for it.
Besides, these guys are actually doing pretty okay, all things considered. We see shirts with collars and buttons! Jackets, even! Clean, white kicks!
Also, Ruth, perhaps sensing that she shouldn’t go too far, chose a dress that has a nice low-key feel to it. So low-key, in fact, that it’s pretty much a Depression-era Dustbowl wife dress with some extra rufflage, which actually winds up looking kind of chic on her.
