Style File: Cathy Cambridge Takes on Poland in Style

Posted on July 18, 2017

Mrs. Cathy has been stepping up her style game ever since she got her hair cut, which should be a lesson to us all, kittens. When you find yourself in a style rut and don’t know what to do, cut your hair.vActually, don’t do that. Desperation-born haircuts are never a good idea. Considering it took something like ten years for Cathy to switch up hairdos, we figure she had time to work out the details.

Anyway, she’s doing well. Let’s judge her.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge attend the Queen’s Birthday Garden Party at the Orangery, Lazienki Park on day one of her official visit to Poland in Warsaw, Poland.

Y’know? This is rather sophisticated for our Mrs. Cathy. The chignon and oversized pearls make a nice combination. Classic, but bold. The dress is interesting – and she should be praised to the heavens for that alone, since she seems to find it difficult to wear interesting things in her role. We can’t say we love it, though. While it’s a sophisticated look overall, the dress looks too stiff. And we’re pretty sure that skirt could give you a nasty paper cut.

Still, it’s got a bit of an edge to it – literally. She deserves some props for that alone.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge arrives to the Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre during an official visit to Poland and Germany in Gdansk, Poland.

We wouldn’t exactly claim that this is some sort of bold new direction for her. It’s a fairly basic outfit. But she doesn’t wear prints often enough, in our opinion, so it’s worth praising just for that. She seems to be fighting her natural instinct to go dull in order to avoid criticism. Maybe she’s been in the role long enough that she’s starting to feel a little more secure in what she can and can’t do.

The beige clutch and sandals are crazy-disappointing, though. Even black would’ve been better.
