Zendaya Coleman Goes Old School at the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” L.A. Premiere

Posted on June 29, 2017

To paraphrase a modern philosopher and briefly resurrect an old meme, Tom Holland, we’re really happy for you and we’re gonna let you finish, but Zendaya wore this:

To be utterly truthful about it, we love this for the pure drama of it; the way she takes this moment and makes it all about her, knowing she’d be sharing this red carpet with a bunch of male co-stars who were never going to threaten her spotlight time. It’s very old school. Very Joan Crawford. No way we can’t love that. But from a style perspective, it’s more of the Barbie trend in current fashion, even if fashion folk don’t like to call it that. “Millennial Pink” is now such an overused term that it appears to mean “any time someone under 30 wears pink,” which is why we avoid it. We’ll stick to calling this look pure, uncut pharmaceutical-grade Barbie, because that’s exactly what it is. It’s not high style, but it’s fun, photogenic attention-seeking drag.
