Style File: Sofia Boutella on the Promo Tour for “The Mummy” in NYC

Miss Sofia has been standing next to Tom Cruise like a good little co-star is probably contractually obligated to do. But we figure a gal who’s putting that much time into the Cruise P.R. machine deserves a little bit of alone time in the spotlight.

We are not loving the micro-trend lately for lingerie–style tops with suits. Having said that, we don’t hate this look. What can we say? We’re just full of contradictions. The shoes and pants work well. The jacket’s kind of fun, although it feels a bit heavy paired with such a flimsy top. And the shades are sassy. It’s a cute and slightly unique day look that plays to her strengths.

We’re shocked to say this, but Rodarte haas been doing right by her throughout this tour. This doesn’t quite feel like June to us, but it’s still a fairly pretty and (surprisingly for Rodarte) conventionally glamorous look. The high collar, puffy sleeves and ruffled skirt are far too much for us, but she has an edge that works nicely to offset the preciousness. Still, we think the styling could be rethought. Neither the hair nor the shoes are really working for us. Something up and off the face for the former and a pair of sandals for the latter – preferably not a metallic.
