Style File: Salma Hayek Promotes “Beatriz At Dinner” in New York City

Mrs. Luthor has a critically acclaimed performance (see the trailer below) to promote – and y’know? She’s a lot more stylish and tasteful when she’s promoting her own work instead of her husband’s companies. These are some of the best looks we’ve seen from her in ages.

The hem length is bad on its own; worse when paired with those heavy shoes. But it’s a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things. Raise that hem to her knee and this would be a killer look. As it is, it’s merely a damn good one. Love the blouse – which is a surpise, what with the black lace and all.

Cute! Maybe a bit of a cliche, but it plays to her strengths and feels just right for the setting. A big reason as to why this is working is that – and please make a note of this if you’re reading, Salma – EVERYTHING FITS.

We’re not sure about those shoes, though.

Mrs. Luthor, recycling the shades and the shoes. Can’t blame her. The former look great on her and the latter are pretty versatile. They work better here than with the red pencil skirt. Again: she should put aside some of those billions of dollars and have her skirts raised a bit because this length is just plain stumpifying. Also, we tend to think this needed a contrasting belt. It’s not a great look by any stretch. In fact, it’s the worst of the three featured here. But it’s decent enough and isn’t disastrous, which makes it a win. What can we say? The bar is a bit low.

This looks pretty amazing, though.
