Olivia Wilde and Tom Sturridge attend the Opening Night Party for Broadway’s “1984,” in which they both star, at The Lighthouse in NYC.
Look, darlings! Theater folk! Let’s judge them!
Gotta say, Miss Olivia is slaying it pretty hard here. We think the shoes – fabulous though they are – may be a bridge too far, but the rest of the look is dramatic, serious, and eye-catching; managing to hit the perfect style trifecta for the movie star actress on opening night of her play. She takes great picture and exudes stardom without looking too glam or frivolous about it. Which is insanely ironic, given how her co-star is dressed.
He went full-on rockstar instead of taking the Serious Dramatic Actor route toward his style choices, with a seeming intent to ensure he wasn’t overshadowed on this night — and we LOVE it. We wish it fit a little better and we don’t think the white t-shirt is the best finishing touch (nor the shoes, if we’re being perfectly picky about it), but you can’t deny it’s a bold-as-hell choice. He did something here no one who follows red carpetry had a right to expect of him: he managed to take the spotlight off his movie-star fashionista co-star. You’ve gotta respect that. We don’t think we can ever recall a man pulling focus from Olivia Wilde when she’s in red carpet mode. This boy isn’t fooling around. Respect.
