As always, we’ll let the fine and no-doubt lovely representative from the PR department have their say first, but suffice it to say that T Lo, both long-time Agatha Christie fans from way back, had a little meeting this morning about all this.
“What starts out as a lavish train ride through Europe quickly unfolds into one of the most stylish, suspenseful and thrilling mysteries ever told. From the novel by best-selling author Agatha Christie, “Murder on the Orient Express” tells the tale of thirteen strangers stranded on a train, where everyone’s a suspect. One man must race against time to solve the puzzle before the murderer strikes again. Kenneth Branagh directs and leads an all-star cast including Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley and Josh Gad.”
That is one hell of a cast, which is probably the entire point to a Murder on the Orient Express remake, since the ending of this whodunnit is probably one of the most well-known of all time.
That is a STUNNING poster.
And yes, they all do look amazing together and we have no doubt the sparks will fly as they all play off each other. As we said, that’s the whole point of filming this story. The 1974 film had an all-star cast just as exciting for its time. In fact, the whole package – casting, art direction, costume design, cinematography – all looks spectacular.
But as far as Kenneth Branagh’s turn is concerned …
T: What did you think of Kenneth Branagh as Poirot?
Lo: He’s fine. Whatever.
T: Really? You don’t think he looks a bit … fanciful? Seems more like a character from a Harry P–
Lo: POIROT IS AN ASSHOLE WHO GIVES A SHIT WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE.
Lorenzo is a Miss Marple fan, you see.
