Miss Colbie, you almost had us completely on board. We know this news must be personally devastating to you, but buck up. We’ll start off by listing the parts we like, mkay?
In all our bitching about the ubiquity of solid red holiday party dresses being all the rage this June, we keep meaning to point out that red is absolutely a summer color, but that it works best during these months if you mix it up with other bright colors to set it off. LOVING the print and colors here. The shape and style work for her too. And the belt makes a nice bit of low-key formality for a look that could go too casual depending on the styling. But there are two things here that bug us mightily and if you can’t figure out what they are it must mean you don’t love us enough: the belly and the shoes. The former, because it really takes away from a fairly simple and breezy design; the latter, because they just feel wrong for the dress. They’re fab, but the velvet just doesn’t go with such a lightweight dress. Of course, velvet’s the other summer ’17 trend we don’t quite understand, but don’t get us started on that.
