Once again, Rodarte has forced us into walking back our years-long dictum about wearing Rodarte on the red carpet, which can be summed up thusly:
Never wear Rodarte on the red carpet.
It’s always been far too intellectual and just plain weird for the average celebrity gal to make sense of in a promotional setting. But lately, the house seems fairly committed to conquering this frontier for themselves by sending out a bunch of fairly wearable, occasionally chic red carpet looks.
Having said all that, we’re not really all that much in love with this. We’re just struck by how conventional it is.
To our eyes, it looks a bit stiff and heavy. And while not every white gown makes us think of brides, it’s kind of hard not to look at a white lace one and avoid the comparison. The earrings are pretty but they only tend to add to the “sophisticated second wedding” feel to the look.
What do you guys think? As you can see, we’re a bit noncommittal here. Commit for us.
