We’re winding down our coverage of Cannes 2017 today and we can’t say we’re shedding a tear over that fact. Much as we love a near-endless supply of high-end gownery on A-list lady stars, one does tend to run out of things to say after the 100th gown in 5 days.
But for us, one of the big stories of this year’s festival was the pleasant surprise of Miss Nicole Kidman’s style rebirth. Just as her career is having a resurgence at the moment, so are her presentation and style skills. She hasn’t been this on-fire on the red carpet since the Tom days.
This look isn’t perfect by any stretch, but Miss Lady deserves one more highlight before she packs up:
It’s … high impact; that’s for sure. We mostly love it. As we’ve said many times, she’s a lady who comes alive in black. And she’s also a lady who can work an interesting or unusual silhouette. The combo of strong shoulder and semi-floaty skirt is an interesting one – and it pretty much works. We could definitely do without the feathers and the pink belt, however. And we really wish she wouldn’t do that to her hair. But overall, this is a strong, head-turning way to end the best Style Week she’s had in at least a decade. Take a bow, Nic.
