Met Gala 2017: Thandie Newton Serves up Zombie Frida Kahlo For Some Reason

Posted on May 03, 2017

Miss Thandie, we’ve got to say, much as we respect the odd boldness of this look, we’re really not feeling it, lady.

And it’s kind of a shame, because there was some potential here. We got all excited when we saw the head piece, which is fabulous, but there was a distinct “deflating balloon” sound effect heard when we took in the details of that awkward little frock. The zombie makeup was the cherry on top of this sundae of poor style choices, we’re afraid. On a less fashion forward celebrity lady, we might call this an admirable attempt to bring some drama to the evening, but since Thandie’s got some fashionista cred to her, this is one of our big disappointments of the night.
