Miss Kim would like you to take her to the river, please.
This is both irritatingly under-impressive for a Met Gala look while simultaneously being her best Met Gala look ever. This isn’t the time for simple white baptismal gowns. It’s the time for massively attention-seeking style choices, which should make this very much within her style wheelhouse. Girl may rarely land on “chic,” but she routinely nails “look at me.”
But for this Met Gala, she did the most un-Kim Kardashian thing she could’ve done. She actually did land on “chic” this time. Aside from the slight fit issues – which should not be a thing with a couture gown – we actually like this dress for her. Considering the fairly rough year she’s had and the ways in which it’s impacting her public persona, this feels like a clean-slate moment for her. Even if it’s not, she gets credit for making it seem like it is. She’ll probably be back in something tacky and dumb very soon. So yes, this is not a great Met Gala look. But we find it hard to hate it too much because it is a pretty good Kim Kardashian look.
