Met Gala 2017: Let’s Just Get Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner Over With

Posted on May 02, 2017

Let’s do this.

Kendall Jenner in La Perla Couture

Sorry, but it had to be said. Again. You’re on the Met Gala red carpet in a custom “gown” (term used very lightly) and the best you can do is stand there like you’re at your prom. On the one hand, we get why the family business determined that she was the one who was going to get the modeling career (because she’s the most model-like of the sisters, in terms of her looks). On the other hand, she is literally the worst at posing. Even her parents do a better job of working a look when they have to.

Anyway, this “dress.” E! had an extended free commercial for La Perla as the designer talked reverently about how it was all hand-beaded with like a hundred-kazillion crystals and it all took 95,000 weeks for 200,000 pairs of hands to get it all done. (Note: we may be fudging some of the numbers.) Then she steps out in this thing, looking for all the world like a gal in a bathing suit with some swatches of sheer fabric loosely hanging off her for some reason. It was clear La Perla thought this was some sort of couture moment because of all the hard work involved, but the end result was bland and boring. Which, come to think of it, makes it the perfect dress for her, we suppose.

Girl, that is SO not your hairstyle (and probably not your hair, for that matter). It truly does nothing for her face at all. Seems she was not meant to be a blonde and maybe not meant to work a blunt bob.

The dress is a big ol’ whatever. It’s got enough going on to make it Met Gala-worthy, we suppose. But you can render it in trendy “Millenial Pink” and you can hang as many gewgaws, doodads and foofaraw off it as you like; it’s still just another member of that family walking an RC with her butt hanging out.

Still, we will begrudgingly admit that she managed the most on-point look out of her sisters.
