Met Gala 2017: Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, Prom Queen and King

Posted on May 02, 2017

Just so we’re clear: the title is shade.

Look at these mega-basics:

Whatever.

Look, she’s serving up a little bit of Liz Taylor circa 1972 or so, which is a thing that we would love in almost any other red carpet situation, but “romantic glamour” shouldn’t be your style brief for the Met Gala. The color’s very pretty on her and the dramatic sweep of the gown is very photogenic, but this is an event celebrating a very specific aesthetic and organza muumuus are not part of it. She looks really pretty, to be sure. But “pretty” shouldn’t be high on the list for a night like this. Come on, girl. You dressed like this just a few days ago.

He’s fine. Dull, but fine. He’s wearing nearly as much makeup as she is, though.
