Netflix Released the Trailer and Key Art for “Marvel’s The Defenders,” Inducing Minor Squees

Posted on May 03, 2017

We interrupt our wall-to-wall Met Gala coverage to bring you some breaking news (and give you a breather). In pure, lazy blogger style, we’re going to turn the floor over to Netflix’s PR team while we go and refill our cups. Back in a second.

“Marvel’s The Defenders which premieres globally on Netflix on August 18, 2017 at 12:01am PT follows Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones), a quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.”

Yadda, yadda, and also yadda. The real info’s in the pics and trailer:

Here’s where we are vis a vis the Marvel Netflix universe:

LOVED: Daredevil Season 1, Jessica Jones, season 1

LIKED: Daredevil season 2

LOST INTEREST IN QUICKLY AND NEVER FINISHED: Luke Cage, season 1

SAW THE CASTING AND QUICKLY “NEWP”‘D OUT AND NEVER EVEN BOTHERED SEEING: Iron Fist, season 1

As you can see, with us, there’ve been a clear and unrelenting case of diminishing returns with this lot. But we have to admit, this trailer just got us back on board in a big way. We’re actually way more excited about this than, say, another season of Orange is the New Black. We still think Mike Colter has a severe charisma deficiency and we haven’t come close to changing our minds on Iron Fist dude, but the combination of actors and characters – including Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple and Simone Missick’s Misty Knight – looks like great fun. Oh, and then there’s SIGOURNEY DAMN WEAVER LOOKING FABULOUS.

So, yes. We’re in.

And you?
