“Game of Thrones” actor Kit Harington covers the June/July 2017 issue of Esquire Magazine photographed by Norman Jean Roy.
On feeling uncertain about the rest of his career after “Game of Thrones”: “Thrones nicely bookended my twenties, but I’m thirty now. Maybe I can reinvent myself and get away from an image that’s so synonymous with Thrones. But maybe this was the role I was always meant to play and that was it.”
On what he plans to do post-Thrones: “I don’t really aim to get into that next big Oscar film. That’s not really my route.” He and his college pal Dan West, “might do a comedy next.” Or he might not do much of anything. “I’ll enjoy the madness quieting a bit. I’d like a few years of relative obscurity.”
Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss on why Harington works for the part: “He just had the look. The brooding intensity; the physical grace; the chip-on-the-shoulder quality that we always associate with extraordinarily short people.” (Harington is five-foot-six.)
The issue officially hits newsstands Tuesday, May 30th.
