Cannes 2017: Diane Kruger in Jason Wu at the “In the Fade” Premiere: IN or OUT?

There are little dribs and drabs of Cannes 2017 left over, but the only one we seem to be interested in discussing is Miss Diane’s choice here:

Okay, so.

We have a history of railing against sheer dresses on the red carpet. Especially if they’re black sheer dresses. We should, by all rights, be apoplectic right about now, but God help us, we’re starting to be won over. Something about the floral pattern and the sparkle is setting this one apart for us. We truly don’t like the sheer parts, but the wraparound effect and the embellishments are turning this sheer dress into something unique and worth turning one’s head to take in more of. The fairly simple but elegant styling choices help things tremendously. We don’t know… it has a quiet sort of glamorous chicness to it that we’re finding more appealing than we would have predicted otherwise.

But it’s still a sheer black dress, so we’re going to need you guys to slap us out of it if we’re wrong here. Give it to us straight (more or less):
