Cannes 2017 Style File: Jessica Chastain in Chanel and Zuhair Murad

Posted on May 30, 2017

We thought we were done Miss Jessica at the end of last week, but she not only had a couple more dresses to show off, but she seemingly had a few things she wanted to get off her chest before she left:

“This is the first time I’ve watched 20 films in 10 days,” she said. “I love movies. The one thing I really took from this experience is how the world views women, from the female characters that I saw represented. And it was quite disturbing to me, to be honest.”

While there were exceptions, she said she was surprised by the overall representation of female characters, ending her closing remarks by offering a solution to the film world: include more female storytellers.

“When we include more female storytellers, we will have more of the women I recognize in my day-to-day life—ones that are proactive, have their own agencies, don’t just react to the men around them,” she said. “They have their own point of view.”

ATTAWOMAN.

Seems kinda silly to rag on her dresses after that. Fortunately, they’re pretty good dresses.

The more we look at it, the more we love the sort of demure neckline and sleeves paired with the walking-away back. The gold and white combo looks great on her and the head styling is pretty much flawless. WERQ it, lady.

BAM. Great high-impact look. We don’t normally love a skirt that tricky, but somehow, she’s making it work – probably because she’s not Angelina-ing her leg all over the place. She looks gorgeous, right down to the matchy shoe, which we don’t even mind for some reason

Our hearts, darlings. They’re just so full of love today.
