Cannes 2017 Style File: Isabelle Huppert Runs the Gamut in YSL, Gucci and Nina Ricci

Darlings, with this post, we have finally come to the conclusion that Miss Isabelle is one of the most frustrating and least consistent of celebrity red carpet denizens. Please allow the following examples of not-bad, fabulous ,and “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY EYES?” to serve as an illustration to our thesis.

Princess Leia realness. And y’know? We don’t really have a problem with that. We’ll nitpick on the details, like the unnecessary volume at the waist and the uninspired choice of belt, but she can work a minimalist look.

She poses like she’s in a police lineup, though.

LOVE. Until she turns around, but given how rarely we love a Gucci dress (and ignoring how often they sport one little detail that drives us nuts, like a random tiger or something), we’re leaning in on our initial impression. The shape is exactly what she prefers without overwhelming her (which tends to happen with her) and the colors are glorious and loaded with personality (which is not always something we can say about her choices). Despite the goofiness on the back, it’s a killer and a keeper.

Now brace yourselves. Your resolve is about to be tested.

Not ONLY is she sporting a wrinkled yellow satin skirt under a yellow lace bodice; not ONLY is that shade of yellow quite possibly the ugliest known to humankind; not ONLY is the aforementioned hideous skirt attached to the aforementioned problematic bodice in the weirdest, dumbest way … but Miss Femme here had to top off this shit sundae with a … we can’t even tell. Is her bra gray or beige? Whatever the case, it’s an assault, we say.
