The Handmaid’s Tale Premiere Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on April 26, 2017

God knows when we’re going to get around to reviews of this show. It’s killing us that we’re going to have to put it off for a bit. Maybe we can catch it over the weekend and get some thoughts out/provide a discussion space next week. But in the meantime, at least we can shine a spotlight (and some loving judgment) on the ladies in the cast, who all appear to be putting some major effort in on the red carpet front.

Alexis Bledel in Cushnie et Ochs

The proportions on the dress feel off. Not enough of a neckline to balance out that heavy, low hem. And the accessories are way too focus-pulling, we’re afraid.

Amanda Brugel

Feels off-season, but it’s dramatic and it suits her.

Elisabeth Moss in Miu Miu

She’s got to stop wearing these dresses with brooches right at the center of the neckline. Other than that, it’s a pretty chic look. The head styling is not up to the dress, though.

Ever Carradine

These gals sure seem committed to their neon pops of color, don’t they? The shoes are on trend, but they may be a bit much with such a brightly colored suit. Still, we kinda like this look more than we expected to.

Katie Aselton

Keeping it simple. It’s not exciting or photogenic, though.

Madeline Brewer in Lela Rose

This would be fine if you got rid of that weird apron-peplum and switched out the silver shoes for something a little less Nana.

Samira Wiley

Love the shape of the dress but not necessarily the print. The hair is flamazing.

Yvonne Strahovski

It’s alright. Photographs a bit too much like a slip and it’s a little too dull. She’s a January Jones/Brie Larson/Alicia Vikander type, in that she needs edgy, funky, weird fashion to make an impact. But her hair looks great.
