ATTENTION! ATTENTION! A SWARM OF KILLER BEES IS ATTACKING SARAH PAULSON ON THE RED CARPET.*
Honey. We’re not feeling this one.
We suppose that shouldn’t be a surprise, since we constantly argue that Rodarte isn’t a particularly red-carpet-ready brand. It’s too intellectual, too weird for most red carpet situations. On the other hand, and we say this with much love and respect, Miss Sarah herself is somewhat intellectual and weird, so a dress like this is right up her red carpet alley, so to speak.
But it’s not just that’s a slightly odd dress; it’s that it’s an overdesigned one as well. We’re not feeling the sleeve-capes, which give it a grandiosity and maturity she doesn’t need. And the bodice just seems like a mass of design elements, all piled on top of each other. She can handle dresses with a lot going on, but we’re just not feeling what’s going on with this one, if that makes any sense.
Still, if there’s any celebrity who can pull off a Rodarte on the RC, it’s her. So we put it to you, you opinionated kittens:
