Our diva-reading (in every sense of that phrase) skills are so advanced that we knew this outfit was a no-go before we had a chance to really see it. The body language and facial expression told the tale before the details of her ensemble even registered. Miss Jennifer is practically spewing her hatred of this getup in every direction, with every step.
And honestly, we can’t blame her.
We said last week (to near-universal disagreement from the Bitter Kittens) that we don’t really mind ripped jeans like some do. Which was never to suggest that we think they’re okay in any instance. Like any style, it’s all in how you pull it off and how it’s rendered. In Miss Jenny’s case, she probably should’ve known before she left the house that she’d be baking bread in those jean holes. Somewhere on the ride over, she realized too late that ripped jeans should not also be skinny jeans. That one can safely be considered a Universal Style Red Flag, as far as we’re concerned. Write it down if you need to. Repeat it to yourself like a mantra, should you ever be tempted by a sale or the airbrushed photo of a genetically blessed teenager managing to pull it off. Let J Lo’s mistake serve as a fashion learning opportunity. Just one in many ways that our divas provide valuable service to the public. Their tragedies become our lessons, darlings.
