Style File: It’s Time to Get Real about Katy Perry Lately

Posted on March 06, 2017

We hate to say this – again – but we’re afraid Miss Katy is floundering a bit on the style front. Neither of these looks are disasters, but they sure feel like a once-great fashion adventurer who’s lost her mojo.

This isn’t bad, to be fair. It’s got some sass and sizzle to it. And once you realize it’s a jumpsuit and not a gown, it gets recast in a slightly less generic light. As a garment choice, it’s fine. But the styling here feels kind of thrown together. Of course a huge part of our dislike probably stems from the color and cut situation. The latter’s actually fine, but it doesn’t feel very fresh. More like warmed-over ScarJo with a little bit of Evan Rachel Wood thrown in. It’s the color that bugs more. If this was done in her usual dark shades, we might have liked it more. In blonde, we’re getting whiffs of Gosselin.

“Sizzle,” like “jazzy,” is a word we must use more often, don’t you think?

Anyway, she also snagged a stage set:

We’re being bitchy about a gal that’s quite a bit younger than us (which means we have no room here), but it’s hard not to see  the extremely watered-down Miley-ness here and wonder just exactly when it was that Katy Perry became such a wannabe?
