Poor Miss Jessica submits herself to the awkward machinations and mandatory hoop-jumping of Jimmy Fallon. Because she’s no fool, she dress appropriately for the occasion.
We’re not really loving much of this on its own merits. If she wore this on a red carpet, we’d probably nitpick the weird shoulder situation, footless pants and a belt which it doesn’t appear to need. No, our compliments, such as they are, will not be because we think this is gorgeous and chic. It’s really just an okay jumpsuit with a couple of twists. Even the embroidery feels a little tired.
But in a lot of ways, it’s a really smart choice for this particular dog-and-pony show. Gone are the days when ladystars could totter out in tiny dresses and 4-inch heels. Given how much they’re now expected to perform like trained monkeys on night time talk shows, it’s smart to put on the ladystar equivalent of a union suit. She’s comfy, the black looks great on her, she can handle whatever the host throws at her (literally) and she gets to show off a little sexy without too much effort. It’s a win all around from her perspective.
