Jessica Chastain Nails It in Antonio Berardi at “The Zookeeper’s Wife” Premiere

Right off the bat, we’ll state that we don’t think this look is perfect in every way, but it’s striking and it’s on point for the venue and the product she’s trying to sell.

The bold sleekness of the gown and the straight-outta 1938 head styling really suit her. She’s worn this shade of blue before to great effect, making us wonder if she and her team have moved it into her go-to column. The design is modern enough to keep the dress from being too retro, although it’s not without some slight problems. The skirt is stiff and has no drape to it, which means it really needs to be perfectly hemmed. The way it sort of collapses when it hits the floor kinda ruins the line it creates. We’re of two minds about the shoulders and bust. Tom tends to think they’re just over the line of being a bit too fussy and Lorenzo thinks they’re exactly what’s needed to give the look some freshness.

But we’re both in agreement that it’s a quietly great look; one that gets better the longer you look at it. If nothing else, the earrings are spectacular.
