Film Independent Spirit Awards 2017 Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on March 02, 2017

Before we wrap up our Oscars 2017 coverage for good, let’s get in our time machines and go back to a simpler time; a time when we believed in the system and lived our lives secure in the knowledge that it would never let us down. A time when we held accountants in the highest esteem, which is why we entrusted them with our nation’s most important secrets and documents. A time before the End of Our Naiveté; before our childhoods ended and our dreams died on the vine.

Last weekend, at the Independent Spirit Awards, when everyone in Hollywood was still hungry for Oscars and even hungrier for carbs, in other words.

Shall we judge? Oh, kittens. What a silly question.

Aisha Tyler in Rochas

Maybe we’re too tired and can’t tell any better, but this is kind of cute, to our eyes. A little underdressed, even though this is considered a somewhat casual awards show, but it doesn’t bother us.

Amanda Peet in Chanel

A little heavy, dark and serious for the venue.

Ben Foster and Laura Prepon

Boris and Natasha.

Danielle Brooks in Urban Zen by Donna Karan

She looks pretty good, but we’re over the plunge.

David Oyelowo in Dolce&Gabbana

Gorgeous.

Freida Pinto in Uel Camilo

Newp. Checking out.

Jenny Slate in Luisa Beccaria

Cute dress, but we’re not feeling the hair and the white bag feels a little off. A silver one would’ve dressed it up.

Jon Hamm

We don’t think we’ve ever seen him in the real world wearing a suit that fits him correctly. Maybe it’s not fair, but when you play Don Draper for almost a decade, you’re stuck being compared to him. His suits were impeccable, even when he’s puking up his daily intake.

It’s nice enough, but it’s such a mess on him.

Kate Beckinsale in Pamella Roland

Meh. That bodice seems silly to us.

Kerry Washington in Prada

It works. The skirt feels a bit unresolved in the design, but it’s a smart look.

Miles Teller

Fine. Whatever.

Molly Shannon

She looks great and she gave one of the all-time great acceptance speeches. Go look it up. It’s hilar.

Naomie Harris in Chanel

Everything she wore this weekend – except what she wore to the Oscars – looked great. We’re telling you, they all got paid this year.

Anyway, this is cute.

Natasha Lyonne in Creatures of the Wind

We swear we heard a record scratch when we scrolled down. The dress is quirky-cute, but those are NOT the shoes for it. She looks a little crazy.

Riley Keough in Louis Vuitton

Go-Go Nurse.

Taraji P. Henson in Giambattista Valli Couture

For such a tiny dress, it’s way overdesigned. It’s only the Power of Taraji that’s making it not ridiculous.
