Because if we’re going to rewatch every episode 20 times, then you’re gonna get slammed in the face with every bit of Feud: Bette and Joan content we can think up.
But seriously, this came up while we were compiling the screencaps for the latest “Feud Style,” which you should go and read right now because it’s fabulous. Lorenzo’s been having some fun tweeting the comparisons, but they’re too good to just lie around on social media. They deserve their own post.
To answer the question posed by the title of this post? They did pretty damn good, from lighting, art direction, makeup and costume perspectives, which are the only perspectives that really matter. Although we suppose the resemblance of the actresses might matter, but we think once you see their performances, such concerns tend to fade away. As we said in our reviews, each of them are combining light, considered mimicry with smart acting choices and character-building.
But for now, let’s enjoy the work of a bunch of people who clearly wanted to get the work of their forebears in the industry exactly right. As homages go, these are near-flawless.
