Miss Emma doesn’t look particularly thrilled to be here and we think we know why. And by that we mean we have a threory we pulled out of our asses and now we’re going to pretend like it’s truth because it’s more fun that way and makes for a more interesting hook for this post. Just lifting the veil here a little, darlings. The world of style blogging is a mysterious and sinister one, no?
Anyway, our theory as to why Emma’s not smiling in this carefully chosen series of pictures where she’s not smiling is this: She’s wearing leftovers that probably weren’t leftovers when she picked them out.
We’re not a hundred percent on that neckline – and truth be told, this look feels like an odd choice for a Disney Princess film premiere, but for the most part, this is a chic and smart look. As we’ve mentioned a few times recently (because the combo is on trend right now), we love ourselves a black-and-gold color story. But Kiernan Shipka just wore a very similar Oscar de la Renta from the same collection and Janelle Monae floated through the Oscars with gold leaves woven through her hair. Considering the slightly unusual red carpet choices Miss Emma made here, we don’t blame her for being pissed that she got upstaged.
It’s not that we think Emma should be wearing literal princess dresses for this tour. We think she and her team probably consider the gold brooch and hair band to be a modern, minimalist take on romantic style. We can’t argue with that, but the overall style approach to this tour has been weirdly … reluctant somehow.
