Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge attends The Portrait Gala 2017 at The National Portrait Gallery in London, England.
It’s fine. The color is lovely and the earrings do a lot to elevate the look. It’s a dress we’ve seen a million times – and at least a third of those times were instances of her wearing it – but we get that she’s going to rigidly stick to her style, QE2-like. This is The Kate Look. And we suspect that if she ever does become the Queen, this look will have been hammered in and locked down as the official royal look ad infinitum by the time that crown hits her head. She will probably get away with wearing very similar gowns 30+ years from now. Here’s hoping she at least updates her hairstyle by then. But if she’s looking to Grandma Betty for style guidance, then it doesn’t seem likely.
