Oscars 2017: Viola Davis Takes it Easy in Brandon Maxwell at the Vanity Fair Party

Between this and Emma Stone’s look, there was a micro-trend of Oscar winning actresses showing up at the after-parties dressed like stylish office managers. We thought Emma’s was a little off, but we mostly like this for Viola.

Of course the footwear is number one on the list. We think these Stella McCartney hamburgers (Lorenzo’s weird pet name for big, baloony comfort shoes which is somehow eerily apt in this instance) can work on the right lady in the right instance. But Miss Viola’s probably not the right lady and this suit is definitely not the right time for them. Honestly? A pair of clean white kicks would’ve been a much better choice here. Or even a metallic pair, to give it a slightly more glam and cheeky feel. Those things, comfortable as they no doubt are, just look awful.

Second bitch is the hem length. Just take it up a skosh, please. It’s the Oscars.

Final bitch is the top, which feels a little off in color and looks like it might be tight in the bust. Really, she should’ve worn a pretty bra and just buttoned the jacket, sans top. She’d have been covered and comfy, not to mention a little more chic.
